MAKING A STATEMENT

Who's ready for Christmas!? I am! I absolutely love the holidays and all things sparkly and shiny. I love having an excuse to dress up and wear sequins or a red lip and really stand out. This holiday season has been slightly different though. It is so much more difficult to find outfits that are flattering on me, (my bump) that look respectable and aren't too overdone. I've found that the best way to still dress up my look is to wear whatever fits, (ha!) and use statement jewelry to do the dressing up.
I purchased this gorgeous necklace online from the Happiness Boutique and am in love. I love how it's kind of vintage but modern as well. Super cute!! Happiness Boutique offers free shipping (I know, right?!) and they not only have statement jewelry but great daintier (is this a word?) pieces as well. You can't beat the prices and they also have a reward program and a giveaway twice per month. I love finding cute little shops like this that don't break the bank!

My bump! It's getting bigger every day. EEK! I wore this to Christmas dinner with J (we always celebrate our own little Christmas ;) and it was catching the light all night long. Love sparkles!

Dress, old from topshop, Similar Here // Clutch // Necklace // iPhone case // Bracelet // Ring

I got this dress around my birthday last year so it's been almost a year! I love how it made my bump look though. It was really simple, and like I said, I think that's the best way to wear statement jewelry. I don't like too much going on at once. You guys can check out the pages (and pages!) of jewelry at Happiness Boutique by clicking here.

GIRL CRUSH: OLIVIA PALERMO

J was out of town this weekend and I spent most of it shopping, playing with makeup looks, organizing my closet, and pinning. An Ulta opened in my city and I had to check that out and also went by TJ Maxx. I love TJ Maxx and even got a couple Christmas decorations. I couldn't help myself. And Ulta was great, but I am a very loyal Sephora shopper. However, I did purchase this highlighter and a new Essie nail polish just to welcome Ulta to town ;)
On to my "girl crush." Olivia Palermo is one of my favorite fashionistas. OP has probably been on the fashion and style scene since she was a child, but I took notice of her when she was on MTV's "The City." I love her All American girl style. She is so polished and chic; whenever I see pictures of her I always think, "I need to step up my game." It's her ability to accessorize and the detail that goes into her outfits that make her stand out from the others.

Not to mention, her complexion is flawless and her makeup and hair are always on point.
Whether she's in a suit or jeans she appears professional and polished. She nails every single look. And so many of her outfits can be easily recreated with basics from your closet. When I get stuck for outfits, sometimes I'll search her in pinterest and get tons of inspiration. She is very photographed, there's no shortage of pictures of her on the internet.

BLACK PLAID

Plaid Top // Black Denim // Booties // Crossbody Bag // Necklace // Sunglasses // Ring // Lips (in color 17, Encore Rose)

I gravitate toward black clothing and although there are so many great colored plaids out there, (like in this post) I couldn't pass up this black plaid. This top is really long so it can be worn with leggings, and it comes in 8 different color options. If there is one trend you should go for this fall, it's plaid because it's such a classic print that you can wear it year after year without going out of style.

These black skinnies are another piece of black out of my closet where I'm definitely getting my money's worth. They are a really soft denim and super comfy, although I think they're getting a little snug already ;)

EASY PEASY EVERYDAY

This outfit isn't groundbreaking, and it's pretty boring in fact, but I LOVE it. This is pretty much what I wear on the daily when I don't have any client meetings or I'm just working in the office. Ripped skinnies or boyfriend jeans and a magic tunic.  My "uniform," if you will. :)

The weather has been really strange lately and this week it is finally getting chilly enough to dress for Fall. Some days it just isn't cold enough to justify boots, so these shoes have been perfect for the transition from sandals to boots. Also, I had been looking for a pair of super dark sunglasses and I'm over the moon with this pair. They completely black out my eyes and I call that a total win!! I'm not huge on sunglasses ~ I don't collect them like I do shoes, and clothes, but these are certainly keepers!

NAVY JUMPSUIT

Good morning and Happy Monday. I just got back from visiting my best friend in Orange County, California last night. I was so exhausted when I got home, but so happy to see J and Lucy. My best friend and I took a little trip to Palm Springs and stayed at the Parker on Thursday night. We had such a great time and I loved Orange County (HB area) and fell completely head over heels with Palm Springs. I'm definitely taking J back to Palm Springs sometime.

On our way to Palm Springs we stopped at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets and did a little shopping. We didn't spend as much time there as we would've liked (there were stores for days!!) and we didn't really prepare ourselves for it because we stumbled upon it when we pulled over for a bathroom break ;) We hit several shops but I got a couple jumpsuits at Neiman Marcus Last Call that I wore this trip. This navy blue jumpsuit is Max Mara, but since it was outlet shopping I can't find a link online. I've been on the hunt for a black jumpsuit for a while, but had to go with this one. I'm glad I did, I wear black everything.

So I wore this to dinner on Saturday night to a restaurant called Javier's. It was really great Mexican food and I loved the decor. I found the accessories at J. Crew Factory and linked the exact earrings here. I am obsessed with navy and hot pink right now and love that combo for decorating as well. I had my hot pink Coach crossbody with me in Cali, and I'm kicking myself for not wearing it with this jumpsuit. Also, I had ordered these babies online and they got here at the last second before I left for the airport. I would've been pretty upset to leave w/o them. I'll post more of my trip later this week.

LAZY WEEKEND LOOK

Happy Monday!! Is "Happy Monday" even appropriate to say? Nobody is happy it's Monday. Ever. You know what makes me feel a little bit better about getting out of bed and going to work on Mondays? Cute outfits! :)

I had to work for a few hours on Saturday and this is what I wore to the office and to run some errands with my hubby. I have been living in this outfit lately and love it. This is certainly a weekend working outfit because you certainly won't find me in denim shorts at the office during normal business hours. And certainly not on a Monday. #weekendsarespecial

Tunic // Shorts, old and from a local boutique - Similar here and here // Similar Tote here and here // Sandals // Monogram Necklace // Bangle // Sunglasses
I purchased this bag at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale a few weeks ago and already can't find it on their site, but I really love it. If you read THIS POST you'll see that my old leather bag broke during a shoot - EEK! The bag pictured today is the one I grabbed to replace it. I think it was only $36 during the sale, but I am really impressed with the quality. It was the Emperia Side Zip Vegan Leather Tote in Cognac. I've linked a couple similar options and really love this reversible street tote as well.

At the beginning of the summer I purchased "boyfriend shorts" from a local boutique and in order to get the look I wanted, I got a large. Well, they were way too big all summer and I've worn them, but they're just too big. Next summer I'm just going to splurge on a really great pair of distressed shorts (or two ;) because I've basically lived in them all summer. It's too far along in the summer to buy any this year, but we'll see what some of the clearance sales in a few weeks have in store.
