RESTAURANT LOVE

I love my city's downtown restaurant scene and there is this one particular spot that for some reason never has a restaurant stay for long. I can't understand why because it's a perfect location, has indoor and outdoor space, and windows all around because it's on a corner.
Well, something did open there and luckily, I got to try it out last week.  On Thursday (12-17-15) it had a soft opening some friends of ours were invited to, and they were nice enough to bring us along. I know we'll be going back soon, and often. It was fantastic and I think we've finally got a restaurant worthy of the location. It's called RND Corner Grille and I am drooling on my desk thinking about how good it was.
This is the carpaccio and it was some of the best I've had - yes, I've had lots. I love it! It wasn't completely raw, it was lightly seared (I believe) and it had really great flavor. Can't wait to go back when I'm not pregnant so I can shovel even more in my mouth. :)

The calamari was also really good. I loved it, but I love everything. My husband is kind of a calamari snob and he really liked this style (calamari steak) over the regular curly kind.
My husband had the boneless ribeye and it was great. He normally never orders steak at restaurants because he says he can make a better steak at home and most restaurants ruin the cut, but he said this was great (and ate every bite). I loved the crispy onions and the jus ;)
This is my roasted salmon sandwich, which was fantastic. I didn't eat it all in one sitting (I'm always the slowest eater at my table) and the second half was just as good (if not better, crazy when that happens) microwaved the next day for lunch. I used to be obsessed with a salmon wrap from a restaurant called Boozefish in Westport (KC, MO) and this reminded me SO MUCH of that wrap. It was fantastic with the salmon and red onions, aioli, and arugula...mmmmmmmmm. Seriously. Now I'm craving this. It's probably my new go to salmon dish.

There were so many other things on the menu at RND Corner Grille that looked awesome, such as the Tuna Poke, Tater Tots, Caprese Salad, Brussel Sprout Salad, Crab Cake, I could go on. I did try the baby spinach salad (not pictured) and it was also really good. I am super excited about this place so if you're in Lawrence, or you're in KC and need a good date night, this is your spot.

On Saturday I went in to Kansas City to finish up my Christmas shopping and to get lunch and see a movie with my sister. First of all, I got to see my parents' new puppy, Teddy.

How cute is Teddy!!!? He looks like such a little teddy bear and he's wearing the cutest Christmas sweater...even though it was about 60 degrees that day ;) Please don't mind me, I rolled out of bed, dove into my car and headed straight to the mall.

My sister and I went to lunch at Paulo and Bill's and then to see the new Tina Fay and Amy Poehler movie, Sisters. Makes sense, right? The movie was okay - Tina and Amy are always really funny. Lunch was great! Is anyone surprised my favorite thing to do now that I'm prego is eat? I think it's always been my favorite past time, but now I treat every meal like an event. I think about food a lot.

I didn't get a picture of the Phyllo Shrimp before we ate the first two, but this was really good! It was phyllo dough filled with chipotle cream cheese (YUM!!) w/ shrimp and a mango/onion salad on top. Delish!

This is the pizza classica, (minus the mushrooms b/c my sister's a total wimp about food) which we shared and it was awesome. Exactly what the doctor ordered before the movie.

I have no idea why, but I never really dined at Paulo and Bill prior to a few months ago. It opened when I was in middle school, I think, and my first time going was with my girlfriends back in October (2015). I don't know why it took me so long to go here, but I'm hooked now (that I live 45 minutes West of it). Of course I never tried it when I lived down the street.

Sorry for the random restaurant post. It's just what I'm really into these days as all my clothes are starting to look strange on my big belly. I'd rather post pictures of my meals apparently.

Thanks for stopping by!!

LAZY WEEKEND LOOK

Happy Monday!! Is "Happy Monday" even appropriate to say? Nobody is happy it's Monday. Ever. You know what makes me feel a little bit better about getting out of bed and going to work on Mondays? Cute outfits! :)

I had to work for a few hours on Saturday and this is what I wore to the office and to run some errands with my hubby. I have been living in this outfit lately and love it. This is certainly a weekend working outfit because you certainly won't find me in denim shorts at the office during normal business hours. And certainly not on a Monday. #weekendsarespecial

Tunic // Shorts, old and from a local boutique - Similar here and here // Similar Tote here and here // Sandals // Monogram Necklace // Bangle // Sunglasses
I purchased this bag at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale a few weeks ago and already can't find it on their site, but I really love it. If you read THIS POST you'll see that my old leather bag broke during a shoot - EEK! The bag pictured today is the one I grabbed to replace it. I think it was only $36 during the sale, but I am really impressed with the quality. It was the Emperia Side Zip Vegan Leather Tote in Cognac. I've linked a couple similar options and really love this reversible street tote as well.

At the beginning of the summer I purchased "boyfriend shorts" from a local boutique and in order to get the look I wanted, I got a large. Well, they were way too big all summer and I've worn them, but they're just too big. Next summer I'm just going to splurge on a really great pair of distressed shorts (or two ;) because I've basically lived in them all summer. It's too far along in the summer to buy any this year, but we'll see what some of the clearance sales in a few weeks have in store.

Pizza Party Attire

Good morning loves! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was spent hanging out on the sofa. Except for Saturday night, which was spent dressed to the nines at a fabulous gala. More about that later. Today we're talking about appropriate clothing for hanging out at home ;)

I'm pretty sure Friday nights were meant to be spent at home, eating pizza with your family. I thought this sweatshirt was pretty appropriate for my Friday night pizza party this weekend with J, and Lucy.
Now,  if you ever see a Wildfox sweatshirt, purchase it. They are the softest, most comfortable fabric.

Weekend Recap

Good Morning! :) Mondays are the worst, they are just absolutely terrible! Can we fast forward to Friday and pretend everything got done this week?? It also doesn't help that I'm coming back from a great weekend of eating amazing food and hanging out at the lake. With that said, here's a look at what J and I did this weekend.

Friday night we stayed home and had this cheese plate for dinner (ish). A glass red for him and rose for me. ;)

When you finish your cheese plate and still want more, this is what happens...Round 2! The most delicious orange tomato and a little more of the best cheddar cheese I've ever purchased/tasted.

We split this Ribeye for dinner ~ YUM!

Having a drink on the patio after dinner. We have a tv out here so we end up out on the patio quite often.

On Saturday we went out on our friend's boat and hung out on the lake all day. My blog name changed, but I'm still living the good life over here ;)

Obsessed with pineapples. Suit is Anthropologie and it's sold out, but it's made by Seafolly Australia.

We went to one of our favorite places with friends for dinner on Saturday night. Hank Charcuterie is ....it's the shit. It is amazing. This was the Foie Gras torchon that J and I split for an app before the main courses. I love foie gras and this was fantastic!

My main course was one of the specials that night ~ it was a pork tamale with green chili sauce. DELISH!

Chocolate and Berries  for dessert :) Happy girl here.

My outfit for a trip to Home Depot on Sunday. We've had rabbits getting into our tomato plants so J spent the better part of Sunday afternoon fencing them out with chicken wire and steaks. I'll be posting on the tomato plants sometime in the near future.

After Home Depot we stopped at Chili's for some lunch and played some table trivia. Food was great and this little contraption on the table was awesome. Played some trivia for $.99 and tabbed out on it as well. I hate having to wait for the tab when I'm ready to leave so I like the option to tab out myself.

Orange is the new black. These are the most comfortable pants. I fount them at Old Navy a while back and wore them all weekend. I'm not usually one for orange but I am obsessed!

I didn't take a picture but our dinner on Sunday was a repeat of Friday. A cheese plate and then split a steak for dinner with some veggies.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Weekend Recap

Why do the weekends go by so fast? Ours consisted of a few of my fav things: friends and food. My husband gets so embarrassed when I take pictures of EVERYTHING, but now I have a place to put all those pictures so they don't die in my camera roll.

I ordered this tuna sandwich on Thursday night from one of our fav restaurants on Mass. St., Limestone Pizza. It was delish! Everything on the menu at this place is great and I love sitting at the bar and watching them make the pizzas in the limestone oven.

Little cocktail action at 715. This is another favorite restaurant of mine and this little concoction is the "Basil Ricky." #chuggedit

Friday night we had some friends over for a little backyard bbq. How cute is their son, Holden?

There was definitely some napping going on at our house this weekend...

Little date night dinner on Saturday at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, Six Mile Tavern.

At our friend's wedding, waiting for the ceremony to begin.

On Sunday we worked during the day and ran errands, but our neighbors stopped by that evening with some watermelon and their baby! #lovethesuburbs Having cool neighbors is great because you get to have little impromptu parties! And how cute is  little Knox?

Remember this gorgeous bright blooming basket of flowers I took home from the farmer's market just a week ago?

Well it's dying! I am trying my best to save it, but only time will tell. :( It's not looking good.

Have I mentioned my husband is basically a gourmet chef? I eat pretty darn well over here. Sunday night dinners are da best! This is ribeye with caramelized onions, some healthy greens, and brussels w/ bacon and bleu cheese (my very favorite food right now is brussel sprouts). And a splash of red wine ;)

It was a really relaxing weekend. Only 3 days until the next one!
